粱 [liáng]1. A general term for excellent varieties of millet. 粮的优良品种的总称。2. (Sorghum) A one-year herbaceous plant with reddish-brown seeds that are edible; they can also be used for brewing and starch production. The stalks can be used to weave mats or make paper. Also called "蜀黍" (shǔ mǔ). (高粱)一年生草本植物，子实红褐色，可食，亦可酿酒、制淀粉。杆可用来编席、造纸等。亦称“蜀黍”。3. Fine staple food. 精美的主食。4. Fine strain of millet. 同本义（fine strain of millet）。5. Chinese sorghum. 高粱。6. Fine food, especially rice. 精美的饭食（fine food，特别是米）。引证:1. According to the "说文": 粱 means rice. It refers to millet. The larger, non-sticky variety called 小米, while the finer and sticky ones are known as 秫. In ancient times, all grains ground from millet were referred to as 粱. 《说文》：粱，米名也。按，即粟也，穈也。芑也。今小米之大而不黏者，其细而粘者谓之秫，古舂粟之率，自粝至于侍御皆言粱也。2. In "三苍": 粱 is good millet. 《三苍》：粱，好粟也。3. From "礼记·曲礼": 粱 is referred to as 芗萁, and nobility do not eat 粱. Note: "additional food." 《礼记·曲礼》：粱曰芗萁。又，大夫不食粱。注：“加食也。”4. In "国语·晋语": The quality of fine food (膏粱) is hard to correct.
